Witchcraft, of one variety or another, has been with us ever since humans first banded together. Simple sorcery, such as setting out offerings to appease and gain the favour of spirits, or using charms for protection, can be found in almost all traditional societies. 

This fascinating and in-depth course explores the historical roots and development of the belief in witchcraft from prehistoric times right through to the modern day. It makes essential learning for those wishing to follow the Craft today in order to understand how and why modern witchcraft practices and beliefs have come about.

• Know the original meaning and roots of the terms: witchcraft, witch & Wicca and similar terms.

• Understand how the definition and meaning of witchcraft has continued to develop and change over time.
