Across every culture and century, humanity has reached through the veil to honour the dead, commune with lineage, and remember the stories that shaped them.
In this deeply reflective and transformative course, students will explore the ancient and living practices of ancestral veneration β including altar work, offerings, spirit dialogue, lineage healing, grief, and the weaving of memory into daily life.
Through poetic scholarship and grounded spiritual practice, Ancestral Connection & Veneration: Remembering Through the Veil guides students to build meaningful, ethical, and personal relationships with their ancestors β whether of blood, culture, spirit, or myth.
Students will learn to navigate the ancestral field with reverence, safety, and clarity, and to integrate ancestral wisdom into the ongoing story of their own becoming.
Understand ancestral cosmologies and cross-cultural traditions.
Create sacred spaces and altars for ancestral work.
Practise offerings, prayer, and symbolic dialogue with ancestors.
Explore and begin healing lineage patterns and inherited wounds.
Integrate ancestral guidance into daily life and spiritual practice.
Work confidently with chosen, cultural, and mythic ancestors.
Reflect meaningfully on grief, memory, and legacy.
Ground their work in ethical awareness, respect, and clear boundaries.
Recognise their place in the continuing ancestral thread.

This course includes a variety of written reflections, short quizzes, and creative assignments to help you deepen your understanding.
Assignments are submitted through Canvas and are evaluated based on:

Sincere effort and engagement
Students can expect to spend 2β4 hours completing assignments, in addition to meditation, reflection, and reading time.
